New babysue review:
“The Great Make Believer is a smart and smooth collection of pensive modern pop sometimes reminiscent of classic artists from the past like Harry Nilsson (the vocals are particularly similar at times)…
Ten classic pop tunes here and they all have intelligent winding melodies and way-above-average lyrics. This is one of those albums that will undoubtedly hold up well over time.”

Poor souls, I play for thee.
Or so says The Examiner, who kindly gave The Great Make Believer a lengthy review and 4 out of 5 stars.

VENTS premiered the studio recording of my song “Fisher King,” along with a little commentary. You might’ve heard this track before since I’ve posted a couple live versions on YouTube, but it feels good to finally sneak the studio version out into the world. Check it out below…
PREMIERE: Chris Robley Releases New Single “Fisher King”
OMN was kind to premiere the lead-track (“Eden”) from my new album The Great Make Believer.
It’s a song kinda about the very first Catch-22. Check it out HERE.
Thanks to the lovely folks at Vortex Music Magazine for premiering “Mission Bells” from The Great Make Believer.
They shared the song and a little bit about its inspiration HERE.
It’s been a busy week for me in the world of wonderful radio.
XRAY.FM’s Hello Cruel World show played my new song “Lonely People,” and both the inaugural episode of their Alive With Pleasure show and the Forever Now show spun “Fisher King.”
Meanwhile I was a guest on Portland Radio Project’s morning rush-hour show last Monday, playing live versions of “Fisher King” and “Mission Bells.”
On Friday afternoon, I was the guest on KBOO Community Radio’s program THE SONGCIRCLE, playing a few songs live, spinning tracks from the new record, and chatting about pop music, Sesame Street, barnyard animals, Arthurian legend, Maine vs. Oregon, fatherhood, Harry Nilsson, and more.
My new song “Evangeline” from THE GREAT MAKE BELIEVER premiered this past Saturday on XRAY.FM’s ‘Hello Cruel World’ show. Check it out on the XRAY archives at http://xray.fm/broadcasts/view/8074.
Plus you can hear 3 other songs from my upcoming album performed live in the studio (solo acoustic) and listen to me and host John Barrington Jones grouse about just a few of Portland, Oregon’s urban ills (traffic, gentrification, etc.)
John kicked off the show, at my request, with a song by the band Dawes — so check out “A Little Bit of Everything” too. That song brings me to tears every time.
